The installation of device drivers is annoying and time consuming, especially if the user has limited rights.

In order to use a device which has been plugged into a Windows® computer, the necessary drivers need to be installed. Windows® XP handles this automatically by using the Plug&Play Manager.

In most cases this process runs unattended without the need of any user interaction. However, in case of unsigned device drivers administrative permissions for the driver installation are necessary.
