Remote Power Management 2009 for SCCM (RPM)

Just like with its predecessor WOL.NET 2007, you can use Remote Power Management 2009 for SCCM (RPM) to turn on and off workstations remotely.



However, the possible purposes have been widened.
Besides crucial requirements to an active desktop management (i.e. software installations, upgrades, backups, inventories and critical patches out of business hours), new case scenarios have been added. An active energy monitoring collects data about the energy consumption of selected workstations and offers an even better basis for achieving substantial savings by using the integrated shutdown function. Taking this into consideration, you can contribute to lowering the energy costs of your company and rapidly reach a return on invest.
Completely new scenarios come from the integrated Self-Service Portal that enables your employees to remotely turn on their workstations on demand (location- and time-independent). Both new features actively support attempts of so called Green IT and desktop on demand. By implementing a dashboard and a direct integration of all functionalities into the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, several improvements useful for IT administratos have been added to this product.

Furthermore, RPM 2009 offers integration into Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 or Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007. Existing collections can be selected for turning on all included workstations at a configured date through Wake on LAN or shut them down respectively. With this, you can deploy software at night or out of office time, for instance huge software packages or patches. Using Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 you can even profit from the direct integration of RPM: Configuring an Advertisement, you can access extended functions from an additional tab.
